Irene C. Card founded the company known today as MIC Insurance Services in 1980 under the name of Medical Insurance Claims Inc. (Read more about the name change under the company profile.) She is a licensed insurance agent in New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina, and California. She specializes in Long Term Care insurance, Medicare Supplements, and Group Health Insurance.
Irene co-authors a column on Understanding Health Insurance, which appears in
The Suburban Trends,
New Jersey Newsroom (online newspaper) and other distinguished publications. It can also be viewed on this website.
Currently, Irene is a member of the
National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU), Womens’ Service Organization (WSO),
Toastmasters International, Protestant Chaplaincy Services of Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ where she serves as Treasurer,
the Denville Community Church, United Methodist,
Tappan Zee Chapter - American Rhododendron Society where she also serves as Treasurer. She has served on many Boards over the years including the
Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC), the
Executive Association of NJ where she was president and then chairman of the Board. She has served as the Advisor to The
National Coalition of Cancer Survivorship, and health insurance advisor to
The Post Treatment Resource Center – Memorial Sloan Kettering Medical Center, New York, NY.
She was a guest on
The Today Show with Ann Curry. Irene authored the Chapter on health insurance for The Cancer Survivor’s Almanac (several editions) and edited the chapter on health insurance in Living Beyond Breast Cancer by
Marisa Weiss MD and Ellen
Weiss. Irene is known nationally as an advocate for cancer survivors and has been a guest speaker at
many major cancer centers across the country.
Irene resides in Morris County with her husband Arnold. They have two children, Betsy Chandler who works in the business with Irene, and a son Adrian Card who resides in San Francisco CA. Adrian is a prominent artist and has been recognized by The Bay Area Chronicle as the Best Decorative Painter in San Francisco. His work can be seen at
